I don't get why people are dunking on this. In Chicagoland, it's well-known that ALL the expressways were built to keep black neighborhoods in specific areas and were built through the same neighborhoods because it was easier to force black people out. There are books about this.

The same thing in Detroit. The major expressways were purposely targeted to run through thriving Black neighborhoods such as Black Bottom and Paradise Valley. Freeways everywhere. White areas, black, Hisp., etc, etc. Good for business areas (brought visitors into far more neighborhoods). It was to move vehicles farther by faster, bypass non destination cities, reduce street congestion-for all. Not borders. Central access for all.
