No shame in being wrong. The weird part was that his wrongness was driven by ideology (he just thinks lockdowns are wrong and we are overreacting) which he twisted to the science to fit. Then he doubled down. It’s been sad to see.

It seems simple to me: He let his biases color his view of the evidence, which we all do to varying extents. I know I instinctively attack pro abx for appy papers while touting surgery for GERD papers, etc. But he was just too prideful to admit his error.

Heh, at the start of the pandemic, I confidently told my friends that COVID would be no big deal in the US, b/c SARS round 1 wasn't and b/c we had abundent access to ECMO. After that humiliating foolishness, I promptly cut back on making COVID predictions.
