Oh, goody. It looks as though @LesleyRStahl and @60Minutes is going full bore #COVID19 conspiracy mongering tonight, full of false equivalence.https://twitter.com/60Minutes/status/1376313571634769924 …

China ruled out a lab accident at the Wuhan Institute of Virology before a WHO-led team arrived in China to look into how and where the COVID-19 virus originated. The team found that the virus most likely spread from wildlife farms to a Wuhan wet market. https://cbsn.ws/3lYPit8  pic.twitter.com/Yhs47k8WrD

They seem not to realise that the sequencing shows its not artificial and virologist have been very clear on this all along.

Yes. I mean they've shown the bat lineage. Its been out there a long time. Also when labs change RNA artificially they almost always insert off the shelf units which are well characterised. There are none of those in this virus

Yup. Genetic manipulation leaves telltale traces that are very hard not to leave, given how you usually still need to use restriction enzymes, etc...

Plus its like using a phrasebook when visiting Prague. There are some "phrases" where we are pretty sure of what it will do. Trying to make up your own Czech words makes it far harder to buy a beer

Sadly, @60Minutes and @LesleyRStahl's story was full of false balance, and didn't interview someone who really could have explained why we don't think #SARSCoV2 was from a lab. The @WHO scientist they did interview was too vague.

And yet Redfield told @drsanjaygupta on the @CNN special that as a virologist - his opinion was that it “escaped from a lab” !! He has an opportunity to redeem himself and he just doubled down. Unbelievable - and appealed to his authority as a virologist !! 🤦‍♀️
