There is an esoteric quality to vinyl that can't be reproduced on CD. And CDs replaced vinyl so... vinyl is an older technology. I have both.

I like to say that vinyl most definitely does *not* produce more *accurate* sound reproduction compared to CD, but it *does* sound *different* in a way that many people find more pleasurable.

Even with digital downloads, you can't get a pdf of the album cover. It's sad.

Apple tried to replicate the experience in the iTunes Store a decade ago, with digital album covers and liner notes going with purchased music, but it never really worked. It just wasn’t the same.

I've never been into digital downloads much. I still prefer the physical mediums. Less likely to go POOF in a fit of tech fubarring. But, I'm old.

I still have something like 1,000 CDs. I ripped them all to lossless files on my computer, which I play at home over wifi and have matched with my Apple Music so that I can play them on my iDevices, but I’ve still kept the CDs boxed up, just in case.
