sure. but this is like when my high school calculus teacher was super excited a court upheld ezpass based speeding tickets based on the mean value theorem IFR can't be HIGHER than if everyone had covid when everyone hasnt had covid, esp by a far-from-trivial margin

even if NYC and some other places had higher IFRs due to overwhelmed health systems, there is no way we are close to an IFR this low. it's just completely implausible.

For USA it is ridiculous. Yet, as I just said, Vietnam reports 35 deaths. Though that may be undercounting, they can’t hide too many bodies. So either they kept it out or ifr is lower there. I don’t know which.

Ioaniddis has minimized covid throughout. He’s spread conspiracies and tried to re-write his own errors. He may have influenced Trump admin to let covid spread. He’s now attacking his critics like a child. But it’s interesting you’ve seen more covid deaths than all of Vietnam.

A year ago at this time I was a big admirer. I quote him several times in my non-bestselling book. This is true too if some of his defenders who clearly hold him to different standards because they’ve collaborated with him in this past. 1/2

Many held up though, such as @gorskon @doritmi whom I have met in person. I have no doubt others like @PeterHotez would too.
