Predictably, reporters with little understanding of epidemiology, statistics, or large numbers have leapt on reports of deaths after #CovidVaccine and left the impression that the vaccine caused the deaths, even though in pretty much every case there is no evidence of a link.

Antivaxxers then weaponize these news stories, removing even the minimal nuance brought by a desultory quote from a health expert pointing out that there is almost certainly no link and turning the narrative to strongly imply that
#CovidVaccine caused the deaths. /endShow this thread -
A lot of these reports are not materially different than this.https://twitter.com/Eodyne1/status/1375083624329003010 …

Months before a vaccine won emergency use approval, vaccine advocates warned that this would happen. The law of large numbers says that, when you vaccinate tens of millions of people in a short period of time, by random chance alone, some will die soon after of unrelated causes.https://twitter.com/HealthWatch123/status/1375071602556166146 …

Other than the already massive uptick in death? The US had the highest mortality last year since 1947 and we continue to lose about 1000/day, now with new upticks due to variants.

My very smart (but not savvy to the ways of antivaxers) husband saw some Fox news something on his phone about a death that occurred after a vaccination, and he, you know, believed the report. Insidious. I explained of course.

It can happen to anyone. I got a call from a relative about that same Fox News death vaccine skit and had to explain it. They got their vaccine and I answered some questions. Glad you caught that for him!
