Another thing Medicine is holistic - we always have to assess the disease , patient & often family in a bio-psycho-social framework. I am proud to work on a great multidisciplinary team to achieve this at comprehensive level - no need for “woo” to make the care “holistic”.

This is true but, unfortunately, not the type of medical care that most people receive for economic reasons.

Until her post yesterday, I had no idea. I see the term everywhere, even and especially in peer-review journals. So, it begs the question...what's the appropriate term? You can't just say "medicine" because that's been co-opted by quacks.

Any medicine that can be shown to be effective is just medicine. When someone needs to add a term to distinguish it, they are just admitting that there's no data to show its effect.

Unfortunately, many state medical boards still use the offensive slur allopathicpic.twitter.com/3Z82sPemkD

Got it. What do we all call you then? There has to be some common word which everyone can use.

Doctors of Modern Medicine or Evidence Based Medicine. Because this system of medicine continuously evolves. Not limited in its scope like Homeopathy or Ayurveda or any other system of medicine.
