What do you say to people when they use this? What should I read so I can make a clear distinctions between the 2? Is it a matter of religion requiring faith, and science doesn't? This happens to me a lot, and I want to be about to succinctly refute this

Religion has an inherently spiritual focus, while science is more grounded and evidence based. Both are similar in the sense that are systems of behavior designed to "explain", but that similarity doesn't make either inherently right or wrong.
