One of the most annoying denizens of Twitter (to me) is the Twitter nanny who, whenever I quote-Tweet or respond to, for instance, an antivax Tweet in order to refute its misinformation, inevitably shows up in my responses to oh-so-self-righteously scold me for "amplifying" it.

Over the years, my impression of such people has developed to this conclusion: The vast majority of them care far more about asserting their intellectual and moral "superiority" than they do about actually slowing or stopping the spread of misinformation on Twitter.
