It is rather interesting how my comparing Prince Williams saying that @RoyalFamily is "very much not a racist family" to antivaxxers saying they are "not antivaccine" very much seems to have gotten under the skin of Mr. Shermer and his fans. 1/https://twitter.com/michaelshermer/status/1370169510406320135 …

David Gorski, MD, PhD Retweeted Michael Shermer
It bugged Mr. Shermer so much that he quote Tweeted me not just once, but twice—twice!—and his fans are starting to swarm. Even at my most obsessive, I don't quote Tweet the same Tweet twice. 2/https://twitter.com/michaelshermer/status/1370170284997812226?s=20 …

Michael ShermerVerified account @michaelshermerWhen you accuse people of being antivaxxers@gorskon you provide evidence that anyone can evaluate themselves (statements, articles, interviews, actions, etc.) If I accuse you of being an antivaxxer w/out evidence & you deny it & I say "denial=guilt" you'd reject that argument. https://twitter.com/gorskon/status/1370154131206369281 …1 reply 1 retweet 7 likesShow this thread -
Why is this? My point was that, just as antivaxxers nearly always deny that they are antivaccine (think
@RobertKennedyJr's claim of being "fiercely provaccine"), so too do racists deny being racist. William's vigorous denial of racism sounds a *lot* like RFK and vaccines. 3/1 reply 1 retweet 15 likesShow this thread -
David Gorski, MD, PhD Retweeted Ibram X. Kendi
What provoked my comparison was Mr. Shermer's objecting to a Tweet by
@DrIbram that I thought was actually pretty amusingly spot on. 4/https://twitter.com/DrIbram/status/1370008868877705222?s=20 …David Gorski, MD, PhD added,
Ibram X. KendiVerified account @DrIbramThey usually say, "I'm not racist" or "No, you're the racist" or "I am the least racist person." This denial speak is new: "very much not racist." https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/prince-william-response-racism-britain/2021/03/11/c5de88ce-825d-11eb-be22-32d331d87530_story.html …1 reply 1 retweet 9 likesShow this thread -
To put it succinctly: Racists don't believe they are racist, just as antivaxxers don't believe they are antivaccine, the evidence to the contrary from their words and behavior notwithstanding. 5/

It's rather disappointing that so many "skeptics" reacted as though they thought I meant *them* personally. 5/5

Replying to @gorskon
Look, all tweets are about me and there is nothing any of us can do about it.

I did that to keep the trolls out, as they annoyed me earlier. Shermer and the nearly 2K accounts I follow can respond if they wish.
