It bugged Mr. Shermer so much that he quote Tweeted me not just once, but twice—twice!—and his fans are starting to swarm. Even at my most obsessive, I don't quote Tweet the same Tweet twice. 2/https://twitter.com/michaelshermer/status/1370170284997812226?s=20 …

Why is this? My point was that, just as antivaxxers nearly always deny that they are antivaccine (think
@RobertKennedyJr's claim of being "fiercely provaccine"), so too do racists deny being racist. William's vigorous denial of racism sounds a *lot* like RFK and vaccines. 3/Show this thread -
What provoked my comparison was Mr. Shermer's objecting to a Tweet by
@DrIbram that I thought was actually pretty amusingly spot on. 4/https://twitter.com/DrIbram/status/1370008868877705222?s=20 …Show this thread -
To put it succinctly: Racists don't believe they are racist, just as antivaxxers don't believe they are antivaccine, the evidence to the contrary from their words and behavior notwithstanding. 5/

It's rather disappointing that so many "skeptics" reacted as though they thought I meant *them* personally. 5/5

I can tell when someone is a racist or anti-vaccine not by them saying that, but their actions and comments over time. I don’t have to say I’m pro-vaccine or anti-racist, because my statements and actions say it for me.

Yes. Context matters. Just as one can show that RFK Jr. is deluding himself when he proclaims himself "not antivaccine" by pointing to his past words and actions you can show a racist denying being a racist is deluding himself using the same technique.

Ask him about being credibly accused of rape and denying being a rapist. If a rapist denies the rape does that 100% make them a non-rapist? Purely hypothetical...

Something about this seems...important to him.
