Good example of slippery slope fallacy above. It’s almost like saying if Facebook censored nothing, then tens of millions would be convinced covid was a hoax & vaccines were dangerous. Hundreds of thousands would die needlessly. Oh wait.

So if you don’t want FB “censoring” by taking down misinformation, then what do you suggest? A doc I knew (who was just removed from FB) spread a message to millions that covid was a hoax. So you suggest what?pic.twitter.com/I8C1gOtyRo

You’ve already nailed the twin myths of censorship - its utility & slippery slopehttps://twitter.com/JHowardBrainMD/status/1368554942751981569?s=20 …

Look, like everyone else I believe in the marketplace of ideas. I also think private companies have the right to not let their platform be used to spread rank lies & misinformation. 1/2

But I’ve never seen those who decry “censorship” explain what they would do if they ran Facebook, unless they would just have the “anything goes” model, which has led to some really bad stuff.pic.twitter.com/TahHTy9in0

Best to have specifics here. So, my question to @MartyMakary & @VPrasadMDMPH - what has FB censored that hasn’t been a rank lie? And my question to @JHowardBrainMD - should FB have censored this piece?https://www.medpagetoday.com/blogs/vinay-prasad/90764 …

Basically, I haven't been able to take Makary seriously ever since, based on atrocious science, he published that article (not even a study!) amplifying and popularizing the myth that medical errors are the third leading cause of death.

That's a 20-year-old study, though. It's rather out of date.

I'm not looking for preventable deaths statistics. I'm wondering how often medical doctors miss a diagnosis. False positives, false negatives. I have a few autopsy studies. Just wanted to see what you had, perhaps you have an article that's not already in my files.
