Wait, what?
WTF, @MayorMikeDuggan? The “best” #CovidVaccine is the one you can get in your arm. You just denied life-saving craziness to over 6K Detroiters for no good reason.

Seriously,
@MayorMikeDuggan, this is a HORRIBLE decision. The J&J vaccine is "one and done" in that it only requires one dose and its effectiveness at preventing serious disease and death is in the same ballpark as the Pfizer and Moderna#covidvacccine.3 replies 7 retweets 41 likesShow this thread -
Why would you deny such a vaccine to Detroiters, given how many live in poverty and could have difficulty coming back for a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna

This is the first example I've seen of a politician doing a "get only the best" schtick over the J&J vaccine. I'm just sad that it's

I am not an MD or a Ph.D.. As an in-person essential worker who has gone to work the entire pandemic who is over 50 with 4 medical conditions that put me at greater risk of death if I get covid I worry I will only be offered to take J & J. I want 98% effectiveness

Many of us are worried about the economic class reality of our nation where working poor people who go to in-person jobs may get stuck with J & J vaccine while the rich who telecommute who make much more than us & have better benefits than us get the better vaccines

Except that it is NOT correct to say that the Pfizer or Moderna
#CovidVaccine is "better" than the J&J vaccine. Its effectiveness at keeping people out of the hospital and grave is similar and it requires only one dose.2 replies 0 retweets 2 likes
In other words, it's different, but not necessarily "worse" than the other vaccines. Also, you can't easily do a direct head-to-head comparison of clinical trials with different patient populations during times of different #COVID19 prevalence, with different designs.
