Wait, what?
WTF, @MayorMikeDuggan? The “best” #CovidVaccine is the one you can get in your arm. You just denied life-saving craziness to over 6K Detroiters for no good reason.

Seriously,
@MayorMikeDuggan, this is a HORRIBLE decision. The J&J vaccine is "one and done" in that it only requires one dose and its effectiveness at preventing serious disease and death is in the same ballpark as the Pfizer and Moderna#covidvacccine.3 replies 7 retweets 41 likesShow this thread -
Why would you deny such a vaccine to Detroiters, given how many live in poverty and could have difficulty coming back for a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna
#covidvacccine?1 reply 5 retweets 44 likesShow this thread -
This is the first example I've seen of a politician doing a "get only the best" schtick over the J&J vaccine. I'm just sad that it's
@MayorMikeDuggan in my hometown of Detroit, where I was born and where I still work.5 replies 4 retweets 41 likesShow this thread -
The horrible thing is,
@MayorMikeDuggan, you really should know better. You spent all those years as the President and CEO of@DMC_Heals. Disappointing.1 reply 2 retweets 16 likesShow this thread -
Even though I don't live in the city and can't vote for him, I've supported Mayor Duggan. He's been good for Detroit over the last several years. But, damn, he screwed up here, and he'll continue to screw up if he keeps refusing the J&J
#CovidVaccine based on this "reasoning."1 reply 1 retweet 21 likesShow this thread
If it were just the 6,200 doses of the J&J #CovidVaccine, it would be one thing, but Mayor Duggan seems to be signaling that he won't take ANY J&J vaccine shipments for the city.

So,
@MayorMikeDuggan, consider this simile when comparing the different vaccines.https://twitter.com/Bob_Wachter/status/1367828152936898561?s=20 …David Gorski, MD, PhD added,
Bob WachterVerified account @Bob_WachterRe: J&J 72% vs Pfizer/Moderna 95% – it's sorta like comparing scores of golfers who teed off during a calm morning to those who teed off at 1pm when winds were howling. While it's hard to make precise adjustment, it's clear that equally good play will result in different scores.2 replies 1 retweet 2 likesShow this threadThanks.
