You know you’re a “senior attending” when you think you’re being hilarious quoting from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, only to be met with blank stares from the residents, and then realize that the movie came out nearly two decades before they were born.

I mean, Monty Python and the Holy Grail was released in 1975 and was a late night movie cult thing when I was in college in the early 1980s. Most of the more junior residents on the service weren’t born until the early 1990s.

I grew up with Monty Python thanks to my dad’s influence, and while it will always hold a nostalgic place in my heart, I find it hard* to share with anyone new, regardless of age. There are too many “jokes” that just don’t translate to the 21st century.

It's true, alas. The TV show and movies were definitely products of their times. I remember seeing the TV show on late night TV Saturday nights on the local PBS station when I was a teenager.
