I didn't grow up in a conservative household, but my politics was quite conservative from college in the early 1980s to the early 2000s, when the increasing anti-science, anti-intellectual bent of @GOP finally drove me away, a process that took roughly a decade. 1/ https://twitter.com/mattyglesias/status/1363174603410055170 …

I always thought I was an outlier but as I grow older I get more progressive while most I know get more conservative. I just can’t it seems they hate intelligence, knowledge and curiosity in general.

"Anti-elite" Only anti-elite if you are academia, not if you are business. Which I find ironic, because the academics I know are anything but "elite" in behaviour, and normally very well grounded.

I can’t understand the appeal to conservatism or the likes of Reagan to Limbaugh. As a white guy I am often dumbfounded by the narrow minded beliefs of so many white Americans. This extends to even educated ones who should know better. I feel as if I am in an, “Age of ignorance”
