Someone unfollowed me “with genuine sadness” after I said I don’t have any tattoos. He interpreted it as disparagement of those who do have them. I wondered why he thought that (with a
); he expressed “disappointment”; I made a snarky comment; and there we are.

We have become soft. It’s disheartening. I have three tattoos. My husband has none. I don’t care if anyone else has them or not. I got them for me.

That is very strange. Your comment didn't seem disparaging at all.

It's weird. If you went on a long screed about how you hate tattoos I wouldn't unfollow because, with respect, I don't give a shit about your tattoo opinion. I'm here for scicomm and debunking. Too many people need complete alignment on all things and it's disturbing.

I grew up in the later punk era, and the majority of my friends have multiple tats and more than a few are extremely heavily tatted … but I never got one myself. It’s funny how I, IRL, see the same thing as you experienced frequently.

You could say you don’t like sweet potato French fries and someone would get upset. People are weird.

I tease my friends with tattoos usually with less drama. One asked me recently what their next tattoo should be and I said just have it read “bad with money”

It’s your double-fault. Did not follow him back. Did not have tattoos.
