So I was in a store the other day and saw something that made me feel REALLY old. By the booze counter, there was a sign saying your birthday has to be before this date in 2000 for you to be able to buy alcoholic beverages. 2000!

I didn’t buy any booze, so no. As an aside, the last time I got carded was around 20 years ago. The only explanation I can come up with was that at the time I was wearing a baseball cap that covered my then graying (now totally gray) hair.

I've been carded despite plenty of gray hair but it's always because it's policy to card everyone. 2000 hits especially hard because of all of the time we spent thinking about it as The Future.

To put it in perspective, I once knew a lady who was 91. She told me one day she wished she was young again, like in her sixties.
