In your defense, we can't expect everyone to be experts in the consp theory community, which is what this is really about. These are not hesitant parents, these are hyper-political ideologues with agendas. And they'll do almost anything to have those agendas realized

If you see them as ernest actors, you are seeing them *wrong*. That's what ppl should be trying to impart to you. Much of this is way beyond the science or medicine.

I'm not sure that questioning Dr H's integrity, scientific understanding, etc. is what we should be doing. We're bombarding him and he's having a human reaction. That said, Dr H - you don't understand what you're dealing with here! Really... it's shocking.

What exactly shocks? The a subset of the population is not educated enough about immunology to understand why vaccines are critical? Did you see what happened to the Capitol on 1/6/21 my good man? Yes. Our public education system is failed.

Let me put it another way, w/ your e.g. In totally good faith - you are trying to give the ppl at the Capitol a civics lesson, with the expectation that they'd all go "Oh! Really? OMG, we're sorry!".

No. I’m simply observing and accepting that this is where we are and what we need to work on

So you think the real movement-oriented antivax folks can be reached via some mix of empathy and education?

I didn't it's easy....It's as easy as convincing this crowd to shut up and listen to people's pain and suffering - maybe we can earn trust - as professionals and people of decency....Instead of screaming in echo-chambers.

I largely agree, but I think we need to recognize two distinct groups (1) scared/ ignorant and (2) movement conspiracy theorist. We must listen to/ educate the former. We must defeat the latter. U can't understand what everyone here is saying w/o recognizing this distinction.

Precisely. And the good Doctor ignores the simple fact that those of us on the vaccine advocacy side DO make a distinction between the vaccine-hesitant and the antivaxxers actively spreading conspiracy theories and disinformation that create the vaccine-hesitant.
