Hooman did not ‘use’ a platform. He was simply trying to get a pertinent message out through writing an open letter.

And in doing so used someone who represents an active hazard to public health, who has been predatory towards groups most awfully impacted by the pandemic, and who has a history of unscientific rhetoric. That's who he chose to align himself with.

I really want to hear you rationalize how in the current crisis of vaccine confidence we face where our only viable exit strategy to bring this pandemic under control and with no safety signals from either COVID-19 vaccine under EUA, you decided this was appropriate

Let me take it a step further: there is no reasonable evidence to support the endothelial tropism of SARS-CoV-2. The foundation of your concern is scientifically baseless.https://twitter.com/ENirenberg/status/1356358677431791619?s=20 …

      Edward Nirenberg @ENirenberg
There's a really dangerous misinformed claim going around relating to COVID-19 vaccines. A while ago there was a trendy idea that part of the hypercoagulability from COVID-19 was because of endothelialitis caused by direct infection of endothelial cells by SARS-2.

But now you as someone with real credentials have armed the anti-vaccine movement with yet another talking point that they can use to dissuade people from something that will save their lives and protect their loved ones, setting all of us back.

The recently convalescent, the infected frail and elderly with cardiovascular disease should be dissuaded. That is my point.

There is no good evidence to support this claim, Dr Hooman.

Please read the details of my letter to FDA. It’s a mechanistically and immunologically specific immunological prognostication that is particularly relevant to the elderly and frail with cv disease.

I have read it. Your concerns are valid... from a previously theoretical perspective that has now been debunked. Furthermore, with millions of doses administered, many to elderly patients who have heart disease, we have NOT seen sudden deaths. Proof of the pudding...

Indeed. I thought his concern might be plausible (although I also thought there was no evidence for it after nearly 30 million vaccination doses in the US alone); that is, until I started reading more up-to-date scientific literature, whose findings do not support the hypothesis.
