You think they’ll have a theory about the creation of the world, a moral code, anything supernatural, or anything besides the claim that some people did a bad crime? It’s more like the satanic panic of the 80s. Or people who believe in nutrition conspiracies.

No. Satanic panic is similar but they have created a fully-realized alternate reality. And it’s heavily populated with evangelicals. It is already causing schism in the evangelical movement. Soon we’ll have the Q baptists splitting off the Southern Baptists.

I bet Q will quite easily fuse with some sects of evangelical Christianity.

I have a bet going with a QAnon believer who said that there will be a global purging and Trump will be the president after Jan 20th. Let’s see his rationalization after Wednesday.

By all means. Keep us updated. It will be fascinating to watch schism in real time.

This is actually the only way to rescue people from denialism. Relationships matter. If you make it clear the relationship can be healed if they step back to reality, you’ve got a chance.

What I've noticed, is people fall on the "government is corrupt, the system was horrible under Bush/Obama/Biden" and in a very general sense, yes. Attack Q, or Trump, poke holes in their beliefs, it's whataboutism. It's "So you think Biden's so perfect." What's the response?

I'd say, "I never said Biden was perfect. He is, however, far better than Trump was." Otherwise, don't fall for whataboutism. Point it out by pointing out that defects in the Democrats do not make Trump acceptable.

My favorite retort to whataboutism with respect to alternative medicines and antivax comes from @bengoldacre.https://twitter.com/bengoldacre/status/297052662564802561 …
