Nothing has changed since Leon Festinger, Henry Riecken, and Stanley Schachter wrote about the Seekers, the doomsday cult that “readjusted” its beliefs when its prophesied date for time for the end of the world (December 21, 1954) came and went. 1/https://twitter.com/oneunderscore__/status/1350893048692166666 …

There are a lot of QAnon influencers saying the 20th is their last stand, that if Biden is inaugurated they'll admit they've been conned. But they won't. They'll equivocate and buck-pass. They'll find secret patterns in his speech and say he was secretly arrested. It'll continue.

In the case of the Seekers, when the date for Doomsday passed without the predicted alien visitors and the end of the world, the cult leader said the the cataclysm had been averted because the the God of Earth had seen their righteousness and they had spread so much light. 2/

No doubt after Wednesday #QAnon believers will find reasons why @JoeBiden was allowed to be inaugurated as President m, and the conspiracy theory will evolve to adapt. 3/

People have to get ready to accept Q as a religion. It’s here to stay. However, like religions before it, it will have to learn not to make predictions because religion has no predictive power. Making failed predictions results in schisms as with “the Great Dissapointment.”

The pattern was they would do one of three things each time - they would make a new prediction, schism, or declare the event happened but is merely invisible. Be ready to see all three.

Happened numerous times across the 70s/80s/90s. ALWAYS a reason why a prediction was not fulfilled. PT Barnum was an optimist.
