This is, of course, the dumbest antimask analogy out there. It betrays utter ignorance of virology and physics gussied up with a false sense of knowledge, so much so that I can feel neurons in my brain apoptosing whenever I see some ignoramus post this brain dead talking point.🙄https://twitter.com/SimsYStuart/status/1349723953602899968 …

Yes, and since I am experiencing a mosquito pandemic where I live, I’ve erected a chainlink fence to keep me and my family safe from mosquito bites. I wish I didn’t keep having to repeat this, but chainlink fences work. Because science. 👍🏻

I can fix the analogy. The chain link would work if the mosquito was riding on a ball of approx 833 feet wide. Which is about the same ratio of the virus to the droplet it travels on 😁 (1:10,000)

And let’s not forget that they will argue that the pores are too large to reduce spread of virus particles, while they simultaneously claiming that they inhibit the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide molecules.

Let's see. He claims that those who accept the science that masks work to slow the spread of #COVID19 are "neurotic hypochondriacs," but he's "not antimask." Oh, no... 🙄https://twitter.com/SimsYStuart/status/1350084512206745601?s=20 …

My goodness. Ty for the retweet Doc. Over 18,000 views in less than 24 hours. Of course, my point wasn’t “anti mask”. My point was that we should stop allowing neurotic hypochondriacs (such as yourself) to make threat assessments for the rest of us. ...

The appeal to popularity also amuses me. Ghost stories and #QAnon are VERY popular; it doesn't make them science.

So he thinks that those who accept that mask wearing slows the spread of #COVID19 have PTSD and need a mental health professional...don't call him antimask! and this after he had parroted the most brain dead antimask analogy there is.🤦‍♂️https://twitter.com/SimsYStuart/status/1350084641194201090?s=20 …

... And if you’re assessment is that mask mandates are still justified, then you should seek the help of a mental health professional specializing in PTSD. There is no shame in asking for help. 2020 was scary and lots of people are still traumatized.

And then he tries to minimize the danger of #COVID19 by focusing on only high risk populations, ignoring that in a pandemic you CAN’T protect at-risk populations if the virus is circulating inched through the ENTIRE population.https://twitter.com/SimsYStuart/status/1350219145594482689 …

No, you just need to parse the data in order to make a good threat assessment. If we remove high risk groups (65+ and those w/underlying health conditions), and do a risk assessment for non-geriatric healthy people, the threat assessment for mortality is lower than for the flu.

Somehow I get the sense that YOU are part of that high risk population, hu Doc? So why not support a mask mandate, right? After all, everyone wearing a mask makes you feel safer. That’s what’s important here, apparently. smh

If we remove high risk groups ie men from testicular cancer statistics the risk drops remarkably.
