This is, sadly, true. We’re also the only industry left that still widely uses pagers.https://twitter.com/AlanLevinovitz/status/1349126226774994944 …

We have the option to carry one, but I switched to a pager app on my iPhone when it became available. I don't miss my pager. In fact, my patients used to tease me about my "1980s tech"

We just got PerfectServe at my cancer center, but this doesn’t help much because the other main hospital I’m based at still uses pagers.

Right?!?!?! If I had a nickel for every time my wife said that as she grabbed her pager I could make a car down payment.

Love my pager. It takes effort and thought to get me. And dedicated fax lines have never been beat.

One is too many. 14 years ago I was given the option to carry a one-way pager or a Palm Treo. The Palm was heavy, bulky and not that smart, but even back then Pagers were too already woefully dated. I don’t need to say what I chose.

OR circulator here. I carry that same one every time I’m on call. The ear piercing beeps are guaranteed to wake everyone in the house, and possibly the neighbors as well!

They still have technical advantages in some situations.

Yes, I wonder if the simplicity could be argued as an advantage as well. A dedicated device that just does one thing.
