Brits believe in British exceptionalism and I fear that will bite us in similar ways. (I grew up in Australia, and no, we didn't accept American exceptionalism in the main)

They accept of whiff of something from America, but it won't be the scent of exceptionalism, maybe effluent.

I think we can now safely say that American Exceptionalism is dead. It's vital signs have flatlined after having been on life support for at least a decade. There was a brief hope during the Obama administration, but that is gone.

Looking down from Canada and all I see is exceptional injustice, violence, idiocy, and inequality. Glad to live on this side of the border.

Many of us recognise the role the US has as the superpower/leader of democracies/etc. but are irked by the narcissistic guff about freedom/democracy/equality/"American dream"/"American way"/etc. Other countries have such things, incl. countries that do a much better job of them.
