It's always worth emphasizing: Science deniers ALWAYS need a conspiracy theory to explain why science rejects their preferred “alternative” ideas. Science denial is thus ALWAYS rooted in conspiracy theories. Always.

I didn't realize this to be the case until I started to hear why people don't accept scientific consensus. Every single one of them believe that scientists are payed to come up with a particular conclusion or the whole institution brainwashes them

I always realized that there were a lot of conspiracy theories behind a lot of science denial, but during #COVID19 @MarkHoofnagle convinced me that science denial is always rooted in conspiracy theories. Before, I thought there might be exceptions. No more.
