It’s always been rampant clownery from these celebrity doctors. Hell, I first dubbed @DrOz “America’s Quack” in 2014. It’s just that we noticed more now because of the pandemic. https://respectfulinsolence.com/2014/05/14/americas-quack-dr-mehmet-oz/ …https://twitter.com/WFKARS/status/1345380427457032192 …

Heck, in 2010, I once asked if @DrOz had finally crossed the Woobicon when he had @mercola as a guest on his show. I kid you not. 11 years ago, he had Joe über-quack Mercola on his show.https://respectfulinsolence.com/2010/03/02/dr-oz-has-crossed-the-rubicon/ …

And in 2011, @sciencebasedmedicine founder @stevennovella even appeared on @DrOz's show to argue for science-based medicine, at which point I concluded that Dr. Oz had become Kevin Trudeau.https://respectfulinsolence.com/2011/04/27/steve-novella-on-the-dr-oz-show-dr-oz-ha/ …

I know, I know. I'm being the old fart here. Don't get me wrong. I'm glad to have it increasingly recognized what quacks Dr. Oz and other celebrity doctors are. It's just that I can't help but point out that I and several other skeptics were doing it 15 years ago.

2014 is the year I first became a published writer, so I got to it as quick as I could!

And I've only seldom been published in mainstream outlets, having been content mainly to blog and not really having been offered the opportunity very many times. I sometimes wonder if that means I'm just not that good a writer.

I have, however, been blogging continuously with no breaks longer than about a month (which happened in 2017 when I had to figure out how to switch my entire blog off of ScienceBlogs to my own hosting) for over 16 years now.

People tell me I should write a book, and I suppose I should. It's just that I have a hard time finding the time and fear that I'd have to stop blogging for several months (at least) in order to accomplish this. Also, no one's been much interested in a book by me thus far.

Do it. The only nonfiction, other than biographies, I've bought in the last couple years was about pseudoscience.

I guess I'm just too into my blogging to give it up for as long as it would take me to write a book. Maybe someday that will change. I hope that someday that will change and that a publisher might actually be interested in publishing it.
