#COVID19 testing by nasal swab does NOT involve harvesting or sequencing your DNA. Seriously, it doesn't. It's an RT-PCR test that looks for #SARSCoV2 RNA sequences in the cells and mucus collected by nasal swab. This sort of misinformation is harmful. https://twitter.com/naomirwolf/status/1343311942077845505 …

Similarly, antibody testing for
#COVID19 also does NOT involve harvesting or sequencing your DNA. It involves testing your blood for the presence of antibodies against#SARSCoV2. Again,@naomirwolf should stop spreading misinformation.3 replies 10 retweets 71 likesShow this thread -

I reported her tweet as it is dangerous and could dissuade people from getting tested. Dr. Naomi Wolf is a PhD in English language and Literature and should not be getting medical advice, especially when it’s patently false.

And I am just a physicist. Not getting tested does not risk one's health. Report me if you want. There are so many things that one is not allowed to say anymore on Twitter or on Youtube. (Swedish MDs are censored for not believing in masks.)

Pieter, an MD who "doesn't believe in masks" is a bit like a physicist who doesn't believe in gravity. They should not be censored, they should be fired.

It is a bit of a religion, started off without much evidence. Soon there will be sects: paper mask believers versus cloth mask believers.

Key words: "Started off." (Arguably, though, applying what we knew about other respiratory viruses was not unreasonable before we had a lot of data about *this* respiratory virus.) Since then, the evidence base has become pretty strong.

Publication bias, it seems. The study by the Danes (Bundgaard et al) was refused by several journals because their results were undesirable.

This, rather irrational, resistance in educated individuals, is really curious. You go to a dentist, they wear a mask. You go into surgery, the team wears masks. Aseptic procedures in medicine were introduced for a reason and evolved over time. Why imagine they are arbitrary?

Dentists don't wear masks. Maybe a visor when they are drilling, to prevent fragments or splatter getting in their eyes, just like protective glasses in a workshop. Dentist masks are not meant to stop viruses.

Where I come from, they do.

Was just going to say the same. I don't think I've ever been to a dentist who didn't wear a mask while working on me, neither in North America nor in Europe. I have the impression that even the Soviet ones wore masks...
