Wow, I’m starting to understand why I’ve seen so many tweets from epidemiologists and virologists in the past 24 hours or so saying that it’s been a difficult time for them to be on here due to the proliferation of sudden armchair experts

It’s a shame. In the past (despite being dunked on a lot) he seemed generally better than most on this site about listening to the experts and avoiding going too far out of his expertise

Ok so he has no relevant expertise. Is he wrong though? Should a 45 year old with dm II get it before a 76 year old with no medical history?

I am just now seeing all this twittering on the ACIP prioritization, but on Nate's screenshots it looked to me like they would be prioritized the same, not one before the other?

Most of his takes on the pandemic have been pretty bad. He needs to stick to polling and political analysis.

The sad and ironic part is, Nate Silver is someone smart enough that I actually COULD believe that maybe this was one of the highly rare occasions where something important HAD been spotted by someone outside the field. 1/2
-
But his inability to consider ANY OTHER explanation for why the experts get a different answer from the laypeople just cancels out that benefit of the doubt. Silver may BE smart, but he's acting quite dumb. 2/2
