So no one should be surprised that #QAnon is making inroads in the "natural parenting" community any more than they should be surprised at how fast antivaxxers and #COVID19 cranks made an unholy alliance after the pandemic hit. Belief in conspiracy theories is at the heart of it.

Perhaps it's worth considering what drives conspiracy-theorising then. On the one hand, preferences for explaining stuff in terms of human intention and agency (rather than physics/biology/mechanics) and things like "big outcomes have big causes". Can't do much about those...

But at the same time, conspiratorial-theorising is underpinned by broad beliefs that governments and other major institutions are happy to hurt people and lie about it. We, as a society, *do* have some control over reinforcing those sorts of beliefs ...
