And...this attitude is one reason why we've done so poorly in the US controlling #COVID19. It is basically science denial.https://twitter.com/BrtxqF/status/1337638554113953794 …

There is no such thing as "the public health." That term is a rationalization for authoritarians to force their will on people. There is no scientific evidence that any act of government improves the individual's health.

As for the issue of a government act improving individuals' health, I have three words for "Basher": School vaccine mandates. There are now so many fewer children with vaccine-preventable diseases and death than there were in the past.

An amazingly unhinged thing to say at any time, let alone during a year in which govts have acted to control a pandemic successfully while govts that delayed or didn't make the effort presided over a catastrophe.

See what I mean? It’s anti-collectivism run amok. They’ve become so convinced collectivism is bad, they will deny any science or fact that shows it is needed to face things like pandemics. Everybody becomes “free” to wage their own war against COVID or smallpox or whatevs.

There are things bigger than the individual. This BS machismo malignant individualism is a curse that is weakening our country from within. Soon we will be able to do nothing. We have become a silly, small country that can’t do big things anymore because of this.

America is so backwards when it comes to the public health discussion. I think this pandemic made it more transparent in the countries where it works and how it works.

Highways to move food, and sick people people to care. Water systems and sewage systems. Laws that protect clean water. Food production safety inspections. Do you benefit from any of those?
