See what I mean about #Ivermectin being the new #Hydroxychloroquine? He's making EXACTLY the same argument HCQ cultists made February through June. How did that work out? Maybe #Ivermectin will work out better, but HCQ showed the danger of bypassing RCTs, even in a pandemic.https://twitter.com/badlandj/status/1336306106474373122 …

And they CONTINUE to make EXACTLY the same argument
#Hydroxychloroquine cultists made in March and April!

If you say people like Satoshi Omura or Paul Marik (to name just two) are pseudo science cultists, we are all nuts!!! I guess you look at the mirror and see Einstein

There were respectable academics who did the same thing for
#Hydroxychloroquine. (Harvy Risch, anyone?) They used the same sort of bad science arguments, too.https://respectfulinsolence.com/2020/07/24/harvey-risch-defends-hydroxychloroquine/ …2 replies 0 retweets 1 like -
Whenever anyone pulls the "respectable academic believes this" card, I simply respond: So what? I've encountered Nobel laureates who are antivax and believe in homeopathy.https://respectfulinsolence.com/2017/11/28/the-nobel-disease-strikes-again-luc-montagnier-goes-full-antivax-with-a-little-help-from-henri-joyeux/ …

This same Nobel laureate also started believing in
#COVID19 conspiracy theories.https://respectfulinsolence.com/2020/04/21/montagnier-says-coronavirus-was-made-in-a-wuhan-lab/ …1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
He's not alone, either. Indeed, I even coined the term "Nobel disease" to describe Nobel laureates who fall into bad science and pseudoscience.https://respectfulinsolence.com/2010/11/23/luc-montagnier-the-nobel-disease-strikes/ …

It's more than just Luc Montagnier, though. For instance, Louis Ignarro started shilling for Herbalife.https://respectfulinsolence.com/2006/10/05/nobel-prize-predictions-vindicated/ …

Then, of course, there was Linus Pauling and his vitamin C quackery. There was always Linus Pauling. He won the Nobel Prize twice, but still devolved into quackery.https://respectfulinsolence.com/2009/02/18/vitamin-c-and-cancer-has-linus-pauling-b/ …

So, no. Citing this or that respected academic as someone who's embraced
#Ivermectin for#COVID19 does not impress me. Show me the high quality science and randomized clinical trial data.2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes
Basically, I'd love to be wrong in my skepticism over #Ivermectin for #COVID19, and maybe RCT evidence will support it. However, right here, right now, I'm betting very #Hydroxychloroquine-like vibes from those touting ivermectin right now. They're really strong vibes, too.

It's understandable not wanting to commit the same mistake as with HCQ, both cases have similarities but hughe differences too...
