One fun thing: I actually agree that services for which the government and third party payers are most important. That's why we at SBM have consistently come out against Medicaid/Medicare/insurance funding for acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic, etc.

Oh, wait? The eminent Dr. Prasad didn't know that the government pays for quackery? Is he even aware of how much quackery our veterans are being subjected to through
@VeteransHealth? No? Why not?Show this thread -
Personally, I'd turn his argument around on one point. Right now,
#COVID19 disinformation is killing more people than "robotic surgery, prostate-specific antigen screening, or a new prescription drug" and so should be prioritized far more right now than what he does!

In fact, what the eminent Dr. Prasad is found is arguably worse than these doctors. These doctors are trying and need guidance. Dr. Prasad is crapping on their efforts and mine.https://respectfulinsolence.com/2020/12/09/scientists-versus-central-conspiracy-theory-of-science-denial/ …

If Dr. Prasad doesn’t want to do the work of combatting misinformation, that’s okay. There are other things he can do that have value. Trying to delegitimization his colleagues that do combat misinformation, or to undermine the effort to do so, has negative value.

“Delegitimize”. Sigh. I corrected that. About that minor edits button,
@Twitter?

He also blocks a lot of his critics on twitter now so we can't respond. This is a very disingenuous article (no surprise) since he keeps bringing up homeopathy as his go to example yet every skeptic has focused on pandemic misinfo for the last 9 mos. Surely this is a 10 ft hoop?

That's why I said that *right now*, what we do with respect to
#COVID19 disinformation is arguably far more important than what he does critiquing robotic surgery, prostate-specific antigen screening, or a new prescription drug! - Show replies

"every hour spent on one activity is time taken from another." OK. So why did he waste his time writing about skeptics? Doesn't he have better things to do? What a waste of time.

I love a good self defeating argument
