Why are there so many horrible people with horrible judgment in health care? I've seen nurses, doctors, etc. saying stuff like this and posting dumb stuff on social media who are then amazed when it gets them in trouble with their bosses.https://www.wonkette.com/ashley-grames-nurse-oregon-covid …

I’d disagree w that tbh. It hurts patients a ton when docs say things like: all your tests are negative, it must be psychosomatic because there’s no “organic” cause. A scientist would recognize the limitations of tests themselves & not claim omniscience.

My fave recent absurd encounter was cardio saying “we (the scientific community) don’t know what causes x benign symptom you have but in your case it’s probably anxiety” Me:
that’s not how science works. You should’ve stopped at we don’t know.

I disagree. Unless you understand the science behind the treatments and how the guidelines were formulated, you are not a professional, but a glorified technician. It's hard to be a patient advocate, and to advocate for treatments unless you understand them. 1/2

The lack of understanding is why there is such lukewarm adherence to guidelines. Like wearing masks, for example.
