The people in my family who are flying for vacations, letting their kids hang out with grandparents, ignoring recs, etc. are MDs. The worst part is that it makes my mom (70yo, doing chemo for stage 4 t-cell lymphoma) think those things are safe, because she trusts doctors.

True Dr. The first thing that comes to my mind though is - are they being provided with the right support and avenues for letting steam off in an appropriate way at work? Maybe it’s a bit more complex than the way it first presents?

It is no mortal sin to be ignorant; it is perhaps a venial one to advertise. Ignorance can be cured but only in a willing patient.

It definitely seems like there's a disturbing level of "crunchiness" among nurses. Less so among Doctors (though we've all run into them too).

My spawn point, a retired RN was a firm believer in "vaccines cause autism" after my son was diagnosed [I was shortly thereafter], for her it was ego and hubris. She felt that the amount of knowledge and the responsibilities of patient care put her *above* the doctors. 1/2

There have always been these problematic nurses, unfortunately. This is a meme of it from a few years ago.pic.twitter.com/lhYAwc6jMz

Doctors are tougher to explain because they have full under grads and presumably should be able to read the literature. Many nurses, particularly LPN’s are trained vocationally mostly. Outside of nursing specific training, they may only have bio 101 and anatomy 101, if that.

My experience is that some nurses really don't get science. Good at connecting with patients but once you get into MOA and other theoretical information you get the glazed eyes.
