Meanwhile, here's an example of the attitude I like to point out among antivaxxers and #COVID19 deniers/minimizers, the claim that "only" the old and infirm are at risk of severe disease and death and that "they" are not. 1/ https://twitter.com/B33Mello/status/1332989298682040320 …

Antivaxxer
@delbigtree really exhibited this attitude when he urged his@HighWireTalk listeners to "catch this cold" as he claimed that the only people at risk of severe disease from#COVID19 are those with chronic diseases. 2/https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/antivaccine-leader-del-bigtree-on-covid-19-lets-catch-this-cold-why-antivaxxers-and-coronavirus-conspiracy-theorists-are-often-one-in-the-same/ …2 replies 6 retweets 27 likesShow this thread -
Of course, in
@delbigtree's world, people with chronic diseases at risk for severe disease and death from#COVID19 brought it on themselves through bad lifestyle choices. Basically, Bigtree combines blaming the victims with more than a hint of eugenics. 3/1 reply 6 retweets 38 likesShow this thread -
Indeed, he only blames people with chronic diseases for having put themselves at risk for
#COVID19 but also tells them that it's their problem, and their problem alone, to protect themselves from the virus and that the only help they can expect is eventual herd immunity. 4/3 replies 4 retweets 41 likesShow this thread -
No wonder
#COVID19 deniers and antivaxxers so quickly came together to make common cause to undermine public health interventions to slow the spread of the pandemic and launch a pre-emptive disinformation war against COVID vaccines. 5/51 reply 5 retweets 43 likesShow this thread -
Forgot to mention...this eventual "herd immunity" that
#COVID19 cranks and antivaxxers claim will save us from the pandemic is almost certainly not possible given that we don't know how long immunity lasts after infection. Even if possible it would come at a horrific cost. 5a/52 replies 4 retweets 49 likesShow this thread -
Which is, of course, why a safe and effective
#COVID19 vaccine is so desperately needed. 5b/51 reply 1 retweet 34 likesShow this thread -

And even after the vaccines roll out, we'd still have to deal with antimaskers, because, if I undestood that right, vaccines won't prevent catching or spreading the virus, they'll only ensure that you won't get very sick.

Yes, but still a possibility at that point. I also recall reading a version that those who already recovered from the illness and refuse to wear a mask on those grounds can spread the virus - they don't get sick themselves but can still carry it.

It's not clear, though, whether they are contagious and can pass the virus on.

I do hope that you are right on both accounts (that vaccinated and recovered people are not contagious).
