That’s because libertarianism, by and large, supports privilege and white supremacy. It’s always all about MY freedoms, which lockdowns impact but police violence does not. Scratch a libertarian, and all too often you will find a fascist underneath the veneer.https://twitter.com/B1Coyle/status/1332942452840402947 …

Libertarians are so vocal about the lockdowns to the point where people think we are COVID denialists. Yet that same energy was not given by libertarians for the largest anti police movement in modern American history. Too many libertarians have ass backwards priorities as it is.

I’m a Libertarian.Libertarianism has become bastardized thanks to decades of conservative infiltration into the movement and our spaces.American libertarianism as we know it was born out of Rothbard stealing the word “libertarian” from the left. It’s a shame it’s gotten this rep.

It’s earned the rep—many times over! I say this as someone who used to call myself libertarian many years ago but became disgusted when I saw the outright antiscience and “I got mine—screw you!” Stiff I saw coming from libertarian “thought leaders.”

That’s why we need better thought leaders. All the good people just abandoned the movement instead of fighting against the conservative influence.

Exactly. As I understand it, libertarians of the "real" variety are for liberty- for others as well as themselves. I wont let liberpublicans ruin it for me, and will point out to others that they do not represent libertarianism

Stuff, not stiff, although maybe that was a Freudian slip rather than a predictive typing error.😂

The libertarian understanding of public health is... missing. It's all about property rights which leads to, and I'm not kidding, thinking that defecating in a public alleyway is acceptable but not in a private one if the owner objects.

Wrong. Libertarians don't think that there should be "Public" alleyways. All spaces would have an owner. You clearly know very little about what Libertarians believe.

Individuals who fail to live up to a principle they claim to espouse does not invalidate that principle.
