I left @GOP nearly 18 years ago because, nearly ten years after Gingrich had become Speaker, I could no longer stand its antiscience, anti-intellectual bent, with evolution denial, refusal to allow embryonic stem cell research, and increasing hostility to climate science.

That’s been true going all the way back to Reagan. Since Reagan, whenever @GOP controls the Presidency and Congress, it massively cuts taxes on the wealthy and spends like a drunken sailor. Whenever @TheDemocrats hold the Presidency, suddenly @GOP rediscovers fiscal discipline.
