Yup. This will definitely happen, and antivaxxers will hype these stories to spread fear, uncertainty, and doubt about the #COVID19 vaccine.https://twitter.com/ENirenberg/status/1331806710575603713 …

If flu is any precedent, once the vaccine is rolled out, you will hear plenty of reports that someone got a vaccine for COVID-19 and it gave them COVID-19. This is impossible.

I also think that these vaccines making people feel crummy will make it easier for them to believe AV misinfo. Hoping providers can really get ahead of this with strong, up-front messaging and managing expectations.

I heard this every damn year from a woman I worked with. How weird is this? -- A tetanus shot gives you a really sore arm for a day or so but no one I know of has ever claimed to have *gotten* tetanus from the vaccine.

OMG, one of my biggest pet peeves. The flu vaccine is made from a dead virus; it is impossible for the vaccine to give you the flu. I argue with my in laws every Thanksgiving about this (well, not this year lol).

It's important to be upfront about the side effects. When I get a flu shot, that might be the only time all year that I feel ill for several days. Not everyone has that happen, of course.
