I don't like the term "covidiots", I don't think it is helpful or warranted, and I have not used it and won't ever do so.

Calling the incorrigible ones covidiots isn't a good way to do that, either.

Everything we learned fighting anti-vaxx & creationism in the 2000s seems to have been forgotten. It's so much harder than just coming up with a magical phrase http://dneiwert.blogspot.com/2006/08/cracks-in-wall-part-ii-listening-to.html …

Yet the findings from 2 decades ago themselves need updating. For example, there's no evidence that the passage below, so neatly applied to those KIA, would apply to deaths from COVID under Trump. It's not as simple as remembering old deprogramming tricks.pic.twitter.com/byjwlBf42i

I fully agree. Deniers don't care about logic or arguments. However, we still need to interact with them & provide arguments to their outrageous statements because we need to PROTECT the people receiving their preaching. THESE are the ones we should protect from misinformation.

It is a cult! This stuff was introduced and weaponized by Facebook and Right wing media. They are in an alternate reality.

I agree-it’s more about what professionalism someone wants (needs) to display. But they are not convinced by anyone or anything when they’ve gone full denier. Sometimes mocking the militant ones has drawn interest and support from younger people, so it has uses.

Mockery is also a useful tool to highlight the ridiculousness of conspiracy theories pseudoscience. It was particularly effective against homeopathy.
