is there data on the time frame that is safe to wait between dx and surgery? In normal times can be many weeks between the two. Does it vary by surgery? How can we stratify?

Yes, there are data for breast cancer surgery. Studies vary, I don't have time to look up the papers and my cable/Internet is out right now, leaving me to rely on cell phone, but a delay of more than 30-60 days (depending on the study) is associated with poorer outcomes.
