Yes. Six weeks out from my BMx and there was nothing elective about it.

Well, sure. What terrifies me is that we see a surge in SE Michigan that overwhelms hospitals again and forces the delay of so many elective surgeries, including some nonurgent cancer surgeries, like the bad old days in March and April.

As far as I’m aware, in the U.K. cancer surgery has continued pretty much unchanged. Orthopaedics and plastics were very much put on hold but surgeons like

is there data on the time frame that is safe to wait between dx and surgery? In normal times can be many weeks between the two. Does it vary by surgery? How can we stratify?
@VPrasadMDMPH had case on@Plenary_Session of pt with lung CA where COVID delay saved them from surgery. -
Yes, there are data for breast cancer surgery. Studies vary, I don't have time to look up the papers and my cable/Internet is out right now, leaving me to rely on cell phone, but a delay of more than 30-60 days (depending on the study) is associated with poorer outcomes.

It always kind of felt to me like "elective" was an insurance term that meant they could deny coverage.

My neighbor is flying to Utah for a lifesaving procedure because they’ll do it outpatient whereas here in CA they won’t do it (at Stanford or in South Bay Area). It’s kind of crazy, but she needs the surgery to live and I only wish it were under better circumstances.

Could you find a specialty more suited to you that doesn't involve women? You don't seem very woman friendly.
