At this point that’s like saying “using Republican a lot dilutes it’s utility.” We legitimately have that many fascists.

Exactly! Not using the word “fascist” to describe fascists is EXACTLY what fascists want!

I mean if there’s someone whose main priority is one-party totalitarian government enforced by a militarized citizenry? Ok. But fighting for policies I want isn’t helped when my policy allies use Republican and fascist interchangeably.

When Republicans embrace fascist ideas, as they have been doing, I’m going to call it fascism. Not doing so is intellectually dishonest and, again, is exactly what they want.

What you’re doing now is what was said about racists elsewhere in this thread. They want to define racism as only its most blatant, white sheet wearing manifestations and not apply the word to less blatant forms. I reject that utterly.

I’m not saying you’re a fascist or racist, obviously. But you’re playing into how racists and fascists want the terms used, only to describe the most blatant, obvious forms.

I refuse to concede the language to them, as it only helps normalize them.

No worries, I know you're not calling me that. I just disagree about the language thing, in two ways. First, I *do* think these terms are being used too liberally, and that creates unnecessary political problems that get in the way of good policy—which is the top priority.

Read Umberto Eco and then come back.

I’ve read Eco, but not on a relevant topic. What are you referring to?
