Genuine question (without wishing to get involved in a dispute): is it true to say a lot of “reasonable academics” touted HCQ as a cure? 1/2

My impression was a) many non-academic MDs have touted HCQ as a cure, b) many hospital MDs used it, presumably out of desperation/hope, c) some academics considered it a potential therapy, awaiting further data, which ultimately showed it not to be. It is a) that dismays me 2/2

But seriously, where I see more need is high-profile science with a big impact. For me, potential cancelation of football was a big deal—hence my concentration on “COVID myocarditis”.
