If there were no electoral college, we would be having a completely different conversation right now, and drawing completely different political conclusions. It's amazing how much voting systems matter.

That's a great idea, but there's no way Republicans would let that amendment through. I've heard suggestions that increasing the size of the House of Representatives (and therefore the number of electors) would make things slightly less unfair.

True, amending the constitution is a tough climb. But if enough states shift away from a winner-take-all system, we could achieve the same result, and that seems more likely.

I learned about the EC in government class 1965. I was like whaaat!? (or 60s equivalent). Made no sense to me.

Likewise in college in the UK in 82. Then we learned it was antiquated and unfair and would persist.
