Is he of the age it’s approved for? I am pro vaccine. And I am anti quackery. But the shingles vaccine isn’t approved for all ages. I’ve had shingles. I was too young (& still am) for my drug plan to cover the shingles vaccine. As soon as my plan covers it, I’ll get it.
I realize not everyone can afford it without insurance and that's a while other big conversation, but he certainly could pay for it himself.
That’s fair. Once I’m back to work (on mat leave now), I want to save up for it. But realistically I have a couple more pressing things to save up for first. I’m in Canada; childhood vaccines are covered. I have a good drug plan, but it won’t cover as I’m “too young”. Sigh!
I am also too young... despite having had shingles once already and being in my mid 40s and having some other risk factors for complications. You would think that would qualify me, but nope. I am also in Canada but too poor to pay for it. Oh the joys.
I'm an odd GenXer who got the varicella vaccine in my 20s because I never got chicken pox as a kid. It'd be really cool if that works but I'll probably end up getting the shingles vaccine just in case.
Very smart decision!
Sadly, my series of two Shingrix injections was interrupted by the pandemic, leading to me not getting the second one until nearly a year after the first one. I hope that it's still OK.
First round of Shingrix done in Sept. Flu shot 2 weeks ago. Need to schedule round 2 of Shingrix prolly for december. Trying to stay on it.
