Is there a good example of a conspiracy theory believed relatively broadly that turned out to be a priori true? Examples cited of "true" conspiracies tend to be of govt malfeasance uncovered by whistleblowers, the Church Comittee etc., not that some crazy cult idea was proven.

Key words are”a priori”. Due to telescoping bias we tend to believe these were known prior to empiric evidence being provided by whistleblowers and journalists. The question isn’t does criminal conspiracy happen. It is are conspiracy theories ever proven true. They’re different.

Did people believe that gameshows were rigged before one was discovered to be rigged? (wasn't there a movie about this?)

Mark's qualifiers/criteria may be narrowing it too far. Like, it was common enough to believe that priests routinely abused children, to the point where there were jokes about it, but his criteria eliminates it for some reason.

I think you might actually have one of the few that does meet the criteria, actually. It was broadly believed in anti-Catholic circles that priests did engage in sexual activity that was illegal/immoral. And this belief in a cover up went back over a century at least.
