Just as a BTW, I'll mention that "natural herd immunity" is a favorite trope of antivaxxers, and so it's not surprising that #COVID19 cranks have embraced it. 2/https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/covid-19-pandemic-deniers-and-the-antivaccine-movement-an-unholy-alliance/ …

In fact, no less a "luminary" in the antivaccine movement that
@delbigtree has advocated an approach VERY much like that of the#GreatBarringtonDeclaration. 3/https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/covid-19-pandemic-deniers-and-the-antivaccine-movement-an-unholy-alliance/ …Show this thread -
Before the pandemic, no less a "rock star" of the antivaccine movement than
@DrWakefield himself was advocating "natural herd immunity" for measles. 4/https://respectfulinsolence.com/2019/09/06/andrew-wakefield-predicts-a-sixth-mass-extinction-due-to-vaccines-in-jpands/ …Show this thread -
Basically, "natural herd immunity" has never been achieved for any disease. To achieve herd immunity or community immunity takes an effective vaccine. What
#GreatBarringtonDeclaration is advocating is eugenics, sacrificing the elderly to#COVID19. 5/5https://braveneweurope.com/richard-murphy-the-great-barrington-declaration-has-nothing-to-do-with-epidemiology-and-a-great-deal-to-do-with-far-right-economics …Show this thread

"This number is about 10 times the number of confirmed COVID cases" Your IFR in healthy populations say <55 is around1/250,000 to 1/500,000. Evidence-based medicine would say develop a risk scoring system (e.g. TNM staging) and develop national policy based on real-risk.
