Should people ever have to wait to vote? Some can’t sacrifice the time as easily as others.

Blinks. This is possibly the craziest thing I’ve ever heard. People will camp out overnight to get the newest gaming system, but humans can’t wait in line to cast a ballot?

People (usually of privilege) CHOOSE to sit out for a new gaming system. People shouldn’t have to sacrifice their time to vote. This is a dumb take.

People choose to stand in line on the first day of early voting when there are plenty of opportunities over the next 21 days, including weekends, evenings and mornings. Also more locations are opening.

So people actually WANT to wait 11 hours? Fascinating. If people could vote first day in 10 minutes, would they instead CHOOSE the 11 hour wait? Or are they just so concerned about voting that they’ll wait as long as needed because they’re afraid the chance may go away?

I think I was wrong to initially downplay this, given what we are seeing in Texas. I agree it’s a real concern. But I’m somewhat encouraged by the fact that people are sticking, though as you pointed out, not everyone can, and that’s a big issue.

Texas will make Georgia look like nothing. It’s sad to live in a country where people can say “let the people wait”, when we know that impacts the poor more than anyone. Republicans want to make it harder to vote, because they are a dying party. If we all vote, they lose.

There are 2 issues here: 1. Day 1 waits are expected. If hours-long waits continue through the end of the week, there are problems. 2. Incompetence =/= voter suppression. Having followed GA news fairly closely, it was obvious for years that this was going to happen.

Moreover, it's ignorant and prejudice to say the GOP wants to make voting harder. I want more people to vote, but we need to ensure the integrity of the vote. Making voting more convenient doesn't have to make it easy to defraud.

This is absolute nonsense. The GOP has been known for voter suppression tactics for years, and there is almost no evidence of voter fraud in the US. It's a boogeyman created by the GOP. Debating this with you is clearly not worth the time if you don't accept the clear facts.

Indeed. She’s truly deluding herself if she can’t see how obviously that is the case.
