#GreatBarringtonDeclaration is also an example of "magnified minority," with @aier, @FoxNews, and the right wing social media amplifiers augmenting the magnification.https://twitter.com/johnfocook/status/1314301046756384794 …

Ooh, can you point me to an example of this technique being used for Holocaust denial. I'll add a mention of it to my post...https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/great-barrington-declaration/ …

I'm not really in the mood for cruising holocaust denial websites, but I meant the denialists' practice of quoting historians who represent a minority view as if they are the main experts in the field:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holocaust_denial#Institute_for_Historical_Review …

Heh. You'd be referring to David Irving, among others...

Yes, because such people exist holocaust deniers can appeal to them as experts. The same thing happens in creationism: because there are a few people with science PhDs who deny evolution there is a base for creationists to pretend that it is an open question.

I wonder if I'm still on David Irving's email list. I once signed up a throwaway account to his email list, just to follow his activities and know what sorts of Holocaust denial tropes to expect, the same way I've signed up for a number of quack email lists to monitor quacks.
